The Digital Ecosystem Empowerment for Sustainable Development (DiGEST) for Promoting Climate Change Awareness Chair, seeks to establish digital environmental ecosystems globally to combat climate change. Through zero waste programs, environmental education, and decarbonization efforts, the project aims to mitigate the adverse effects of global warming on the environment and human activities. By guiding individuals towards a more sustainable and eco-friendly future, DiGEST endeavors to create a positive impact on environmental issue. Telkom University, as an Information and Communication Technology (ICT)-based institution, endeavors to play a vital role in climate change awareness and related initiatives. This commitment aligns with the University’s Tri Dharma principles of academic, research, and community service, emphasizing collaboration with governmental bodies, industries, communities, media, and other strategic partners. The climate change awareness efforts align with Indonesia’s Climate Actions Towards 2030, declared by Indonesia Government.

The DiGEST Project aims to enhance and minimize the negative impact of climate change on the environment and human activities, thus will guide the humans to work toward a more sustainable and eco-friendly future, that covers 3 (three) main activities: to implement Zero Waste Initiatives Program by promoting reuse and recycling and reducing the ecological footprint of human activities, to increase environmental awareness through the Environmental Education Programme and to develop and implement a strategy aimed at reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable energy practices within the targeted community through Decarbonization Project. All activities are in line with UNESCO’s mandate & strategic objectives and Telkom University’s research focus area. Moreover, the affordability of climate change awareness also contributes to achieving SDGs as stated in UNESCO priorities, as climate change awareness function serves to educate and inform individuals and communities about the causes, impacts, and solutions related to climate change. By becoming The Chair of DiGEST, Telkom University hopes to have a significant positive impact on the global community, as well as researchers and academics related to scientific development and education on climate change awareness.
