Telkom University Continues to Develop Avionics Research

In October 2022, Telkom University (Tel-U) received an aircraft grant from First Marshal TNI Purn.Sardjono. Now, this aircraft grant is used by Tel-U to develop research in the field of Avionics.

This development is based on the desire of Tel-U lecturer team namely Dr. Nina Hendrarini S.T., M.T.; Dr. Duddy Soegiarto S.T., M.T; Ema S.T., M.T and Teguh Asfriyanto S.T., M.T..

This Faculty of Applied Sciences Lecturer Team formed Research Alliances (RA) Aviation as a forum to accommodate all activities related to Aerospace at Telkom University.

Formally Research Alliances (RA) Aviation was legalized by a decree of the Vice Rector for Research Innovation and Cooperation of Telkom University on January 20, 2023. Contributions in the field of aviation in the form of research results are expected to be able to expand the horizons of aviation perspectives by adding ICT-based aviation competencies.

Currently the RA Aviation Team is conducting research in making aircraft technician competency certification under the name Approved Maintenance Training Organization (AMTO). With the formation of AMTO, it is expected to become an organization capable of organizing competency certification with the education of prospective aircraft technicians.

“The process to develop AMTO is very long, such as opening a study program. Because a technician who wants to work on an airplane is already required to have a basic lesson / basic certificate / additional certification when someone wants to work in aviation,” said Ema.

The research conducted by the team from Research Alliences (RA) Aviation did not stop there. Furthermore, the RA Aviation Team will design the creation of an Aviation Maintenance Organization (AMO) which is a startup in the field of aircraft maintenance. A lot of research is carried out by the RA Aviation Team which is not even only the scope of aircraft such as electric motors, hybrid power plants by solar and others.

“So we are, not because we are airplanes then we don’t want to see anything else, meaning that if Mr. Teguh (RA Aviation Team) has knowledge about aircraft engines, jets and all that can be implemented in Turbine Power Plants (PLTT). Equalize the logic. I also hope that my friends’ knowledge can also be used on airplanes so that it is a collaboration “- said Nina as the Head of the RA Aviation Team. Telkom University
