The government of Kabupaten Bandung is encouraging every posyandu to become self-sufficient, multifunctional, and innovative in running their programs. Therefore, this community-based science and technology (Iptek) activity aims to implement internet of things (IoT)-based EBB and Flow hydroponic vegetable cultivation. The targeted community for this activity is Posyandu Rumpun Bambu located in Kabupaten Bandung, West Java. This activity is a dissemination of research results that provide solutions to existing problems in the community.
Through community service activities (abdimas), the Telkom University Community Service Team, led by Rohmat Tulloh from the Faculty of Applied Sciences, provided training and assistance on IoT-based hydroponic cultivation to the Posyandu Rumpun Bambu cadres in Cupu Village RT 02/08, Rancamanyar Village, Baleendah District, Kabupaten Bandung. This community service activity was funded by the Directorate General of Vocational Education, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology for the 2022 community-based science and technology implementation scheme.
Posyandu Rumpun Bambu has active cadres who require solutions for vegetable cultivation in small plots of land. The results of vegetable cultivation are essential for improving the health and economy of the community. Based on measurements, it can be concluded that the community service activities have been successful. This is evident in the creation of an EBB and flow hydroponic system based on IoT that has been operated and has produced harvest-ready vegetables. Also, the cadres’ ability to cultivate vegetables using hydroponics has increased, with all of them (100%) being successful. Their knowledge in processing hydroponic vegetables into supplementary food for toddlers has also improved significantly.
